Hubei Minzu University (HMU), established in 1998 through the merger of Hubei Institute for Nationalities and Enshi Medical Institute, is a prominent public university located in Enshi City, Hubei Province. Supported by the Hubei Provincial Government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, HMU has become a leading institution in the region, focusing on undergraduate education.
The university’s expansive campus covers 1,700 mu and offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a comprehensive library with over 1.8 million paper books and 3.2 million e-books. With infrastructure valued at RMB 2.24 billion Yuan, HMU serves over 17,000 students, providing a conducive environment for learning and research.
HMU offers 60 undergraduate programs across ten disciplines, including law, science, engineering, agriculture, and medicine. The university also provides master’s degrees in key areas such as Ethnology and Chemical Engineering and collaborates with prestigious institutions for doctoral programs.
The university is home to approximately 1,000 full-time faculty members, with 780 holding advanced degrees. HMU began enrolling international students in 2002 and has since established partnerships with over 20 universities worldwide, promoting academic exchanges and collaboration, further solidifying its status as a premier center for education and research.
On September 13th, the opening ceremony for the 2026 freshmen of Hubei Minzu University was grandly held at the Wuhuan Stadium. Party Secretary Dai Qingtang delivered a speech, earnestly encouraging all new students to take the mountains and rivers as their guide, take root in the land, and become light chasers of the new era. Deputy Party Secretary Li Jun presided over the opening ceremony. University leaders Zhang Honglei, Tian Jingfu, Liu Zhijun, Liu Lunzhi, and Wang Yan attended the opening ceremony and presented school badges to freshman representatives.
Zhang Jianfeng, Chief of Staff of the Enshi Detachment of the Armed Police Force, Peng Jianhua, alumni representative and Dean of the Research Institute of Chuneng New Energy Co., Ltd., heads of relevant functional departments of the school, and secretaries and deans of various colleges (departments) attended the opening ceremony and were seated on the rostrum.
All graduate students, undergraduate students, and preparatory students of the 2026 cohort attended the ceremony.
From July 21 to 22, the on-site judging of the 6th National Higher Education Teachers’ Teaching Innovation Competition was held at Nanjing University and Nanjing University of Science and Technology. Hubei Minzu University achieved a major breakthrough by winning the national first prize in this competition.
During the on-site judging of this national competition, a total of 699 courses from 32 competition areas across the country, covering 9 major tracks, competed on the same stage, making the competition extremely fierce. Hubei Minzu University attached great importance to this high-level competition. Li Jun, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, led the team to participate. The team of Li Qing, a teacher from the College of Forestry and Horticulture, won the first prize in the intermediate and lower level group of the New Agricultural Science competition with their course “Landscape Design Practice of Garden Plants”.

Scholarships are awarded annually to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance. For MBBS students, the scholarship amount is 15,000 RMB per student each year. The top 20-25 students, determined by academic evaluation, will receive this award. Master’s students are eligible for a scholarship of 20,000 RMB per year, while PhD students will receive 25,000 RMB annually.

Payment Schedule:
- RMB 4,500 — payable after receiving the Pre-Admission Notice
- RMB 5,500 — payable before receiving the JW202 (visa letter)
- RMB 11,500 — payable after arrival at the university
Application Fee: 800 RMB 400 RMB Each applicant is required to pay a non-refundable application fee of 1000 RMB at the time of submitting documents.
Language Requirement: Students must successfully pass the HSK Level 4 (Chinese Proficiency Exam) before the end of their first academic year.
Fee Payment Policy: All fees must be paid in Chinese Yuan (RMB) or according to the official RMB exchange rate at the time of payment.
Exclusions: The mentioned fee package does not include expenses for stationery, meals, or air travel.
Legal Compliance: Students are required to strictly follow all laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China, the Hunan provincial government, and Hubei Minzu University.
Code of Conduct: Students must refrain from participating in any political activities, protests, activism, or unlawful gatherings.
Restricted Activities: Engaging in any activities or areas that are prohibited or restricted for students is strictly forbidden.

Entry Requirements
1. Eligibility: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens between the ages of 18 and 30, in good health, and have no criminal record.
2. Educational Background: Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent.
