ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
Nanchang University (NCU) is a comprehensive institution recognized among China’s “Double First-Class” universities and classified under Jiangxi Province’s First-Class Universities Construction Project. Located in Nanchang, NCU comprises three campuses: Qian-Hu, Qingshan-Hu, and Dong-Hu, with the Qian-Hu campus covering 288 hectares.
NCU’s history includes the evolution from Jiangxi Medical College, Jiangxi University, and Jiangxi Industrial University, merging in 1993 to form Nanchang University. It was included in the national “211 Project” in 1997 and became a key university of the Ministry of Education in 2004. In 2005, NCU merged with Jiangxi Medical College. The university has since achieved “Double First-Class” status and is a high-level institution jointly constructed by the Ministry of Education and Jiangxi Province.
NCU offers 91 undergraduate majors across 13 disciplines, 18 postdoctoral stations, and 22 doctoral programs. It has 5 affiliated hospitals and 9 national clinical key specialties. NCU’s food science discipline ranks 7th globally in the “US News Best Global Universities Rankings.
The main campus employs 4,235 staff, including 2,687 full-time teachers. NCU has 126 national-level talents, including three Chinese Academy of Sciences academicians and two Chinese Academy of Engineering academicians. The university also boasts national-level teaching teams and notable achievements, including awards for technological invention and significant contributions to LED technology and probiotic research.
NCU maintains a strong international presence, partnering with over 230 institutions across 40 countries and regions. It has established various international research centers and Confucius Institutes. More than 5,000 NCU students have participated in international exchange programs recently.
