Hubei Minzu University (HMU), established in 1998 through the merger of Hubei Institute for Nationalities and Enshi Medical Institute, is a prominent public university located in Enshi City, Hubei Province. Supported by the Hubei Provincial Government and the State Ethnic Affairs Commission, HMU has become a leading institution in the region, focusing on undergraduate education.
The university’s expansive campus covers 1,700 mu and offers state-of-the-art facilities, including a comprehensive library with over 1.8 million paper books and 3.2 million e-books. With infrastructure valued at RMB 2.24 billion Yuan, HMU serves over 17,000 students, providing a conducive environment for learning and research.
HMU offers 60 undergraduate programs across ten disciplines, including law, science, engineering, agriculture, and medicine. The university also provides master’s degrees in key areas such as Ethnology and Chemical Engineering and collaborates with prestigious institutions for doctoral programs.
The university is home to approximately 1,000 full-time faculty members, with 780 holding advanced degrees. HMU began enrolling international students in 2002 and has since established partnerships with over 20 universities worldwide, promoting academic exchanges and collaboration, further solidifying its status as a premier center for education and research.

Scholarships are awarded annually to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance. For MBBS students, the scholarship amount is 15,000 RMB per student each year. The top 20-25 students, determined by academic evaluation, will receive this award. Master’s students are eligible for a scholarship of 20,000 RMB per year, while PhD students will receive 25,000 RMB annually.

Entry Requirements
1. Eligibility: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens between the ages of 18 and 30, in good health, and have no criminal record.
2. Educational Background: Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Important Note
- Students are responsible for covering their own meal expenses.
- Meal options include dining at restaurants (Muslim restaurants are available) or the campus canteen (with a Muslim canteen).
- Students may also choose to cook for themselves or opt for other preferred arrangements.
- The estimated monthly living cost, including accommodation and daily expenses, is approximately 1,000 RMB.
