ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
Chengde Medical University is a public full-time ordinary undergraduate medical institution under the jurisdiction of Hebei Province, located in Chengde, a famous historical and cultural city. Since its establishment, the university has always adhered to the “Chengde Medical Spirit” of “Firm in Politics, Sincere in Benevolence, Respecting Life, and Dedicated to Service”, the school-running philosophy of “Sincere in Benevolence, Integrating Knowledge and Practice”, and the school motto of “Rigorous · Pragmatic · Diligent · Innovative”. It adheres to the socialist orientation of running schools, implements the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, and forges ahead in the journey of running education that satisfies the people.
International Exchange:
CDMU was founded in September 1945, originally named the Health School of Jidong Military Region. It is a medical institution with revolutionary heritage and traditions. It has been renamed successively as the Medical Specialty School of Jicha Reliao Military Region, the Fourth Branch of China Medical University, Rehe Medical College, and Chengde Medical College (junior college level). In 1982, it was officially named Chengde Medical University (undergraduate level). In 2003, it was approved as a master’s degree-granting unit. In 2006, it moved to the new campus as a whole and began to enroll international students. In 2024, it was approved as a project-construction unit for doctoral degree authorization.
Discipline And Programs:
CDMU now offers 21 undergraduate programs. Among them, there are 2 national first-class undergraduate program construction sites, 1 national comprehensive reform pilot program, 2 “Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program” projects, and 2 national characteristic programs; 9 provincial first-class undergraduate program construction sites, 3 provincial comprehensive reform pilot programs, 2 provincial innovation hubs and brand characteristic programs, and 2 provincial application-oriented transformation demonstration programs. It has 5 first-level disciplines authorized for master’s degrees, covering 36 secondary disciplines; 5 Categories of professional Master’s degrees, covering 39 professional fields.

Certified Copy of High School Diploma - If the diploma is in a language other than Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized.

Physical Examination Report - Complete all required items at a hospital, including personal information, photo, checkup date, doctor’s suggestions, and signature.
- Letter of Guardian’s Authorization (For applicants under 18)
- Provided by the current or previous school/company in Chinese or English to enhance the success rate.
- For master’s and PhD Programs:
- Research proposal (minimum 1000 words)
- Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors (with valid signature and date).
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens.
- For a bachelor’s program, applicants should have a high school diploma or its equivalent. For a master’s program, a bachelor’s degree is required. PhD applicants must hold a master’s degree.

- Students are responsible for covering their own meal expenses.
- Meal options include dining at restaurants (Muslim restaurants are available) or the campus canteen (with a Muslim canteen).
- Students may also choose to cook for themselves or opt for other preferred arrangements.
- The estimated monthly living cost, including accommodation and daily expenses, is approximately 1,000 RMB.
