ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Southeast University (SEU) is one of China’s national key universities, directly administered by the Ministry of Education. With a century-old tradition of excellence, SEU is situated near the city center of Nanjing, flanked by the Purple Mountain to the west and Xuanwu Lake to the south.

As one of the oldest institutions of higher learning in China, Southeast University’s origins date back to 1902 when it was established as Sanjiang Normal College. In 2000, the university expanded by incorporating Nanjing Railway Medical College (listed by WHO), Nanjing College of Communication, and Nanjing Geological School into its fold.
Today, Southeast University has evolved into a comprehensive institution, comprising 34 schools or departments with 84 undergraduate disciplines. It offers 34 PhD programs and 49 Master’s programs and is nationally recognized as a leader in architecture, civil engineering, electronics, information technology, energy and power engineering, and transportation technology.
The university boasts a faculty and staff of approximately 2,700 members, including 1,800 professors and associate professors, and 12 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Academy of Engineering. Currently, Southeast University is home to over 35,000 full-time students, of whom about 20,000 are postgraduates.

SEU places a strong emphasis on research and is ranked among the top 10 universities in China for scientific research and development. The university hosts over 20 national or provincial research institutes and numerous key research bases.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMS AND FEE STRUCTURE

Eligibility: Non-Chinese citizens aged 18-25, high school graduates.
Application period: December 1, 2024, to May 31, 2025 (the deadline for English-taught clinical medicine programs is June 30, 2025).

Scholarships are awarded annually to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance. For MBBS students, the scholarship amount is 15,000 RMB per student each year. The top 20-25 students, determined by academic evaluation, will receive this award. Master’s students are eligible for a scholarship of 20,000 RMB per year, while PhD students will receive 25,000 RMB annually.

1. Passport (The valid period must be more than one year, if you’re currently in China, please provide the copies of the first page and the latest VISA/resident permit page).
2. Certificate of Highest Degree.
3. If you are to obtain the higher level of degree before September 30, 2024, you may provide the official document to prove that.
4.Official Transcript of Academic Records.
5.HSK 4 and above is needed for most Chinese-taught Programs, HSK5 for Medical, Economics and International Chinese Language Education. Otherwise, one-year of language learning is required to obtain the certificate.
6. If English is not the native language or official language, you are required to provide TOEFL 80, IELTS 6.0/ Duolingo 100for English-taught program.
7.Two Recommendation Letters.
8. Research Proposal no less than 800 words.
9.Certificate of Non-criminal Record.
10.Physical Examination Record

  2. Meal options include dining at restaurants (Muslim restaurants are available) or the campus canteen (with a Muslim canteen).
  3. Students may also choose to cook for themselves or opt for other preferred arrangements.
  4. The estimated monthly living cost, including accommodation and daily expenses, is approximately 1,000 RMB.
