ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU; 西安交通大学) is a public university in Xi’an, Shaanxi, China. It is affiliated with and funded by the Ministry of Education of China. The university is part of Project 211, Project 985, and the Double First-Class Construction. It is a member of the C9 League.

XJTU houses five state key laboratories, four state special laboratories, and two state engineering research centers. Two of its eight affiliated teaching hospitals are ranked among China’s top 100 hospitals. It is the hub of the University Alliance of the Silk Road, an international academic alliance under the umbrella of China’s Belt and Road Initiative that aims to build educational collaboration and fuel economic growth in countries along the Silk Road Economic Belt and key partners worldwide.

Xi’an Jiaotong University has been part of all major government efforts to establish world-class universities in China, including Project 211, Project 985, the C9 League, and the Double First-Class Construction (Class A).[citation needed] In March 2025, the university signed an agreement with the Shaanxi International Communication Center to provide a pipeline of talent.

SCHOLARSHIP:

A variety of scholarships are available for international students.

Application Documents

1. Notarized copies of senior high school graduation diploma, either in Chinese or English.
2. Notarized copies of high school academic transcripts, including courses taken and scores achieved.
3. Language certificate such as HSK, HSKK, TOEFL, IELTS (applicants whose mother tongue is Chinese/English are free from above certificate after getting approved from our school).
4. A recommendation letter written by high school headmaster or teachers (email, phone number and signature should be included.)
5. Study plan written in English or Chinese with no less than 600 characters or words.
6. Scanned copy of valid foreign ordinary passport.
7. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner
8. Non-criminal record.
9. Other supporting documents. (if you have any) Notes: a. Documents fail to meet the above requirements will be rejected; b. Please provide documents 2-10 in scanned copy and upload to the online application system of XJTU; c. Documents other than Chinese or English are required to be translated and notarized; d. During the review process, the school may require students to submit other materials if needed.

Entry Requirements:

1.Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens, in good health, and have no criminal record. The age requirements are as follows: 18-30 for bachelor’s programs, 18-35 for master’s programs, and 18-40 for PhD programs.
2. Educational Background: Applicants must hold a high school diploma or equivalent for bachelor’s programs, a bachelor’s degree for master’s programs, and a Master’s degree for PhD programs.

Eligibility

1. 18-25 years of age & with good health status.
2. Valid foreign ordinary passport.
3. High school / senior secondary or advanced diploma; (Applicants who are still in the last year of high school can provide expected graduation certificate for submitting application while the official diploma must be provided before Sep 1st, 2024 upon enrollment)
4. Language skills Chinese taught program: Submit Chinese proficiency certificate. Proficiency must be above HSK 4 or equivalent. (Applicants who do not meet the language requirement are allowed to take foundation courses and get enrolled for degree program after passing the relevant review and exams. Only students who could reach 4th level of HSK could enter major study, those who failed will be disqualified for major study; information and details for foundation program can be find in our website: http://sie.xjtu.edu.cn/) English taught program: Submit English proficiency certificate. IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 80 (or above), or other equivalent English proficiency certificates recognized by our university.

Application Deadline: June 10th,every year.

Important Note

  1. Students are responsible for covering their own meal expenses.
  2. Meal options include dining at restaurants (Muslim restaurants are available) or the campus canteen (with a Muslim canteen).
  3. Students may also choose to cook for themselves or opt for other preferred arrangements.
  4. The estimated monthly living cost, including accommodation and daily expenses, is approximately 1,000 RMB.
