ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
North China University of Science and Technology (NCUST) is one of the top-ranking universities in Hebei province, offering a comprehensive range of disciplines across nine categories: science, engineering, humanities, medicine, economics, management, law, education, and art, with a strong emphasis on engineering and medicine. It ranks 161st in Best Global Universities in China and 2nd in Hebei province, according to the 2020 U.S. News Rankings.
Formed in 2010 through the merger of Hebei Polytechnic University and North China Coal Medical College, NCUST’s history traces back to the Department of Mining of Peiyang University, founded in 1895. The university currently hosts 40,747 full-time students, including 31,482 undergraduates, 3,590 master’s and PhD candidates, and 255 international students. The university spans a 300-hectare campus with advanced facilities, including a 78,000 square meter library with 2.7 million volumes and 38 large-scale databases.
NCUST offers 95 undergraduate programs, 27 master’s disciplines, 21 professional master’s categories, and three disciplines authorized for doctoral degrees. It is particularly renowned for its world-class metallurgical engineering program and its national first-class mining engineering and public health disciplines. The university also boasts significant research capabilities, having won numerous national and provincial awards and undertaking major national research projects.
The university emphasizes innovation, entrepreneurship, and applied research, fostering strong practical skills in its graduates, who enjoy a high employment rate of 95%. NCUST has a distinguished faculty of over 4,000 professionals, including 1,834 full-time teachers and more than 100 recruited experts, such as academicians and provincial distinguished scholars.
NCUST is also dedicated to international collaboration, maintaining partnerships with over 50 universities and institutions worldwide. It has established a Confucius Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Hungary and runs joint education programs with universities in Germany and Russia. Scholarships are awarded annually to students who demonstrate exceptional academic performance. For MBBS students, the scholarship amount is 15,000 RMB per student each year. The top 20-25 students, determined by academic evaluation, will receive this award. Master’s students are eligible for a scholarship of 20,000 RMB per year, while PhD students will receive 25,000 RMB annually.
Application Materials
1. Certified Copy of High School Diploma
If the diploma is in a language other than Chinese or English, it must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized.
2. Passport Photo
A recent passport-sized photo of the applicant.
3. Certified Copy of High School Transcripts
If the transcripts are in a language other than Chinese or English, they must be translated into Chinese or English and notarized.
4. Photocopy of Passport
Must include name, passport number, expiration date, and photo. The passport must be an ordinary passport and valid for at least six months. Applicants residing in China must include a copy of the page with a valid visa or residence permit.
5. Certificate of Non-criminal Record
Issued by the local police station with an official stamp.
6. Physical Examination Report
Complete all required items at a hospital, including personal information, photo, checkup date, doctor’s suggestions, and signature.
7. Letter of Guardian’s Authorization (For applicants under 18)
Entry Requirements
1. Eligibility: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens between 18 and 30 years old, in good health, and free of any criminal record.
2. Educational Background: Applicants should hold a high school diploma or its equivalent.”

- Students are responsible for covering their own meal expenses.
- Meal options include dining at restaurants (Muslim restaurants are available) or the campus canteen (with a Muslim canteen).
- Students may also choose to cook for themselves or opt for other preferred arrangements.
- The estimated monthly living cost, including accommodation and daily expenses, is approximately 1,000 RMB.
