ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY

The School of Overseas Education of Guizhou Medical University was established along with the enrollment of the first batch of international students (Class of 2014) of our school. It is mainly responsible for the enrollment affairs, teaching affairs, daily management, service guarantee and Chinese language education of our school’s international education. The school currently has one dean, four administrative departments including the school general office, teaching management department, student management department and enrollment publicity department, and two teaching and research departments of Chinese as a foreign language and medical Chinese. There are currently 16 faculty members.

At present, there are undergraduate majors in clinical medicine; master’s majors in orthopedics, general surgery, organ transplantation science, neurosurgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, clinical laboratory diagnosis, labor hygiene and environmental hygiene, nutrition and food hygiene, health toxicology, pharmaceutical chemistry, clinical pharmacy, etc.; doctoral majors in histology and embryology, immunology, medical microbiology, human parasitology, pathology, ethnopharmacology, orthopedics, general surgery, neurology, clinical laboratory diagnosis, labor hygiene and environmental hygiene, epidemiology and health statistics, health toxicology, etc. As of 21 years, 219 students have been trained, and the proportion of degree students has reached 100%. There are 40 graduates, and the pass rate of passing the medical examination in the country of origin is 67.5%.

The talent training of international students in clinical medicine (Chinese teaching) of our school has clear training goals, training requirements and curriculum system. In terms of teaching, we strictly manage the teaching links and strengthen the “three-stage” examination (basic medicine joint examination, clinical medicine joint examination, graduation examination); emphasize teaching monitoring, establish a quality monitoring and evaluation system for international students’ education and teaching, and set up a two-level supervision team at the Overseas Education College and the school; strictly manage students’ academic affairs in accordance with the regulations on the enrollment management of international students of Guizhou Medical University. In the management of daily affairs, we combine “system management” with “student-oriented”, give full play to the incentive role of the Guizhou Provincial International Student Scholarship and the Guizhou Medical University International Student President Scholarship, actively mobilize the subjective initiative of international students, and improve the self-management ability of international students. In cross-cultural exchanges, we encourage mutual learning and cultural exchanges between international students and undergraduates, and strive to create a strong international atmosphere on campus.

In the new historical period, the college will further expand undergraduate study majors for international students and vigorously promote graduate education for international students.
