Wenzhou Medical University (WMU) is a distinguished institution under the administration of the Zhejiang Provincial Government with origins tracing back to the Zhejiang Specialized Medical School established in 1912. Initially founded as the Second Zhejiang Medical College in 1958, it was renamed Wenzhou Medical College and later became Wenzhou Medical University in 2013. WMU was designated as a co-development university in 2015 by the Ministry of Education, National Health Commission, and Zhejiang Provincial Government, and it achieved Priority Development University status in Zhejiang Province in 2017.

WMU offers a range of academic programs, including four primary PhD disciplines (Clinical Medicine, Basic Medicine Science, Pharmaceutical Science, Biomedical Engineering), two professional doctorate programs (Clinical Medicine, Medical Technology), eleven primary master’s programs, and seven professional master’s programs. It is known for its high global ranking, particularly in Clinical Medicine and Pharmacology & Toxicology, and hosts numerous research and innovation centers, including national key laboratories and collaborative innovation centers.
