Getting Ready for Admission in China

Here are some ways to prepare for admission to a university in China:

Application Form

  1. Complete the application as completely as you can. If any of the fields are left blank, your application may be denied.
  2. Home Address: This should be the actual address where you live in your native country. It should include your street, city, state, nation, zip code, and building or house number. We will not accept P.O. Boxes.
  3. Education or Work Experience: Up until the application deadline, please list all of your educational and professional experiences. Later in the screening process, the university may require more documents from applicants who took gap years.
  4. Emergency Contact: may be a parent or family member in China or back home.

Passport

  1. A complete and unblemished photocopy of your passport’s identity page, which includes your name, photo, birthdate, place of birth, passport number, and expiration date.
  2. The passport must have a lengthy expiration date and be a standard passport.
  3. The four corners of the identifying page should be included in the photocopy.
  4. For applicants who are not in their native country, a visa page is necessary.
  5. You must present the entire page of your passport, including the page with your particular number at the bottom.
  6. Photocopies of the Chinese visa pages and/or the resident permit should also be given to those who are currently living in China.

Changing passport after submission or failure to report your current Chinese visa status may cause visa troubles.

Photos

  1. Recent bareheaded (within six months).
  2. Full face.
  3. Usually two inches and white-color background.
  4. Certificate photo instead of landscape photos or photos of daily life;
  5. Usually in JPG format and less than 100K.
  6. You’d better provide a photo of yours that was taken within 3 months.

Academic Transcript

  1. The transcript must be in either Chinese or English; if it is in another language, both the original and a translated copy must be supplied.
  2. Transcripts from high school should be submitted by applicants to bachelor’s programs.
  3. Transcripts of undergraduate studies should be submitted by applicants to master’s programs.
  4. Master study transcripts should be submitted with applications for doctoral programs.
  5. Your transcript must include your final grade; if your institution does not provide final grades on a single document, you may submit transcripts for each semester of your studies first.

Diploma/Degree Certificate

  1. The certificate must be in either Chinese or English; if it is in another language, both the original and a translated copy must be supplied.
  2. Students enrolled in bachelor’s programs should provide a high school diploma or a pre-graduation certificate that specifies when they anticipate graduating.
  3. Candidates for master’s programs should provide a bachelor’s degree or pre-graduation certificate that details their anticipated graduation date.
  4. Applications for doctoral programs should include a master’s degree certificate or a pre-graduation certificate that details when you anticipate graduating.
  5. You can submit a pre-graduation certificate if you haven’t graduated yet (see an example below). Some colleges let students to utilize pre-graduation certificates; please check with admin@CUCAP.cn first.

Pre-graduation Certificate

    1. Contains university or high school name.
    2. Contains the name of the certificate.
    3. Contains the name of the student and degree or diploma the student is going to have.
    4. Contains date of issue, the teacher’s name, and the school’s stamp.

    Tips: This certificate is for who haven’t graduated yet but is going to graduate before a semester start in Chinese universities.

English Language Certificate

      1. Includes the student’s name and photo.
      2. Provides the certificate’s ID number.
      3. Provides the test score.

      You can give an English Proficiency Certificate (see sample below) if you do not have an English Language Certificate (TOEFL or IELTS). Some universities require students to utilize an English Proficiency Certificate; please consult with admin@CUCAP.cn first.

      Language certifications for English-taught programs are the TOEFL or IELTS.

      The best indicators of language proficiency are the TOEFL and IELTS. Some institutions may permit the use of an official certificate from the applicant’s current or previous educational institution attesting to the fact that English is or was the language of instruction if the applicant is unable to present the IELTS or TOEFL. Later on in the application process, you may be asked to participate in an interview to demonstrate your English language skills.

HSK Certificate (Chinese Language Proficiency Certificate):

  1. Contains name and photo of the student.
  2. Contains number and admission ticket number of the certificate.
  3. Contains total score.

Tips: Generally, HSK level certificate should be obtained within the last 6 months, and you can check more information of HSK like test schedule and test locations here.
